Architecture of propaganda (2015)

About the project

Architecture of propaganda studies the use of buildings, infrastructure and urban planning as a medium for state propaganda. The works were captured on a tour curated by the regime during the "100th birthday” celebrations of Kim Il Sung in April 2012, and the historic events surrounding the announcement of Kim Jung Un as the new supreme leader after Kim Jong Il’s passing.

My work focuses on how a highly curated message is curated through static architectural media and how in this highly curated theatre set, cracks become visible upon close inspection.
